THE MOST EFFICIENT WAY TO MAKE LEMON CREAM CHEESE BARS

Spray a 9×13 baking dish with nonstick cooking spray and set the oven to 350 degrees F. Combine lemon juice, lemon zest, cream cheese, and 1 cup of sugar in a large bowl. Mix thoroughly. Taste and make adjustments as necessary. You can increase the sugar or lemon zest.

Roll out one can of crescent dough and press it firmly into the bottom of the baking dish. Using a spatula spread the curd mixture evenly over the crescent-shaped dough.

Spread the crescent dough from the second can on the cottage cheese mixture. Apply the melted butter evenly with a brush after pouring it on the surface of the dough.

Spread 3 Tbsp. sugar evenly on top. Bake uncovered for 35 minutes.

It should take 20 minutes to cool before you cut into it and enjoy it!

WHAT INGREDIENTS ARE NEEDED FOR THIS MEAL?

  • Two refrigerated 8-ounce sheets of dough
  • 1 cup sugar, granulated
  • Two softened 8-ounce containers of cream cheese
  • Lemon juice, 1/4 cup
  • Lemon zest, 1/4 teaspoon, or to taste

CAN I USE BOTTLED LEMON JUICE?

I suppose you could, but unless you are very desperate and have no choice but to buy or find real lemons.

SHOULD LEMON CURD BARS BE REFRIGERATED?

Yes, they should be kept chilled because of the curd layer. You can warm them to room temperature before serving. They can be kept in the refrigerator for two to three days.

HOW DO I FREEZE LEMON BARS?

After cooling thoroughly, wrap the whole sheet of lemon sticks or individual pieces in several layers of plastic film. Place it in a zip-lock freezer bag before freezing. If they are airtight, they can be stored in the freezer for two months. Let them thaw overnight in the refrigerator before serving.
